Which olive oil is best for toast? First and foremost, it should be Extra Virgin Olive Oil. However, not all EVOOs are the same.
KEY FACT
The SIQEV seal on the front of the bottle is the quickest way to identify an EVOO from the QvExtra quality association.
Two good guides for choosing: ensure it belongs to a Designation of Origin or a quality association such as QvExtra (recognizable by the SIQEV seal on the front), which, in addition to Suerte Alta, includes oils such as Casas de Hualdo, Finca Duernas, Oro del Desierto, Olis Solé, or Egregio.
Which variety to choose based on the toast
- Plain toast, or with tomato and ham: a green Picual, Hojiblanca, or Pajarero, for their character.
- Toast with chocolate powder (a children’s favorite): an Arbequino, mild and sweet.
- Toast with jam: opinions are divided. Arbequino is usually recommended, although at Suerte Alta, we prefer Picual with orange or apricot jam.
