More and more people are looking for the organic seal or certification on the products they buy. An organic product comes from sustainable farming, without harmful substances, pesticides or herbicides.
KEY FACT
Cortijo de Suerte Alta has been farming organically since 1996, almost three decades before the term became popular.
In Spain, “ecológico” is the only term authorised to designate an entirely natural product; the terms “biológico” and “orgánico” may not be used on labels. The seal guarantees that the production process protects the environment and animal welfare.
How Certification Works in the European Union
The EU grants a certificate once strict standards have been met both in the field and at the mill, including that raw materials come from organic farming and that no genetically modified materials are used. The entire process (farming, production and marketing) is regularly inspected by the CAAE.
Suerte Alta’s Organic Commitment
Cortijo de Suerte Alta has been farming organically since 1996, with 100% organic production. In recent years we have reduced our energy consumption to the point where our mill is fully sustainable, powered by our own solar energy and by the energy obtained from burning olive stones.
